Organic food is better for you

Scientists have been comparing organic and non-organic foods for over 50 years, without finding any consistent evidence that organic foods are any healthier.

A review commissioned by the UK Food Standards Agency in 2009 concluded that there are no meaningful differences in the nutritional content between organic and conventionally produced food, nor any additional health benefits. And of course, organic farmers use a range of non-synthetic sprays and powders to control weeds, diseases and insect pests.

Scientists agree that what's important is eating a balanced diet with a good amount of fresh fruit and veg, whatever the production method used to grow them.
